Each year, Cheekwood hosts a community Scarecrows exhibit during Cheekwood Harvest. Belle Meade Children’s Center has participated the past three years and had some eager artists ready to design their scarecrow this year! In the past, BMCC created a Pete the Cat and Eric Carle scarecrow together. From painting and stamping scarecrow pants & shirts to sewing burlap heads, the BMCC children enjoy designing, creating and assembling our beloved scarecrow characters. Our 2018 scarecrow is the popular Daniel Tiger…and Trolley! Go visit him, see the Trains exhibition and enjoy all the activities offered during Cheekwood Harvest, September 22-October 21.
This Summer, BMCC teacher and Nossi College of Art graduate, Rebecca Hall Hodges, submitted our school for their 45 Days of Giving campaign. Well, we won! Ms. Kelly and BMCC kiddos were thrilled to receive gallons of paint, spin art kits, and pads of paper to add to our art inventory! This specific activity is enjoyed by the entire center (especially the babies!) We thank Nossi College of Art for their support and generous donation, but we also thank Ms. Rebecca for thinking about her school, students and co-worker. Because of her, we shared the excitemnent of winning something (!) and saw the thrill and focus on the children's faces. Today, our BMCC Community celebrates the teachers who enhance our children's lives and make this school such a great place to work together.
*Special thanks to Dylan Abernathy from Nossi College of Art for coming to BMCC to snap some action shots!
